About Adele Wieder
Do you wake up wondering how you are going to get through the day?
Are things changing in your relationship and you don’t know how to get back on track?
Is your family overwhelming and you want to improve your parenting skills?
When life becomes a struggle, I work with people with warmth, in a comfortable, confidential environment to look at how to introduce change. In the sessions our conversations will include exploration of the influences of the past, how life is in the present and hopes for the future. It could be that you want to find different ways to talk to your partner or family, or to gain confidence, perhaps to find ways to carry on after bereavement, divorce or redundancy. The systemic approach allows me to work flexibly, so that I use a variety of methods and techniques depending on what is appropriate. I have worked successfully with many people who have suffered from depression. Another interest of mine is the parent-child relationship and also how families manage when a member has a chronic illness. Very often people have untapped sources of resilience and my aim is to work with them to be able to utilise their strengths.
I work with clients to develop tools to maintain a happier, healthier lifestyle, which can happen in a few sessions or may take longer to ensure progress is not shortlived.
My training, work experience and any achievement
- My training in systemic therapy enables me to work with individuals, couples and families of all shapes and sizes who are struggling with some aspects of their lives.
- I work with people in a comfortable, confidential environment to look at how to introduce change.
- As a social worker, I worked in hospital, community and area team settings with all ages. Then as a therapist I worked in a CAMHS team (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) before establishing a private practice.
- I also work within 2 voluntary organisations: as a family therapist in a marriage guidance service and in a bereavement counselling service as a counsellor and group facilitator.
